Another great Hutchinson mandala coloring book with improvements - big round mandalas that fill each page

Ms. Hutchinson's 2007 Mystical Mandalas coloring book inspired me to take coloring mandalas books on as one of my hobbies. With a great deal of pleasure I have not looked back and since have enjoyed many mandala sacred design books.
This is #4 in a series of Alberta Hutchinson's subsequent mandalas coloring books. I have all 7 books and enjoy them all. This one provides us with not too simple, yet not too difficult designs to enjoy coloring with our gel pens, colored pencils, alcohol markers or water based markers.
The big improvement is that there are no labeling of or frames around the mandalas.
~ 32 designs
~ dedicated page, not back to back pages
~ good quality semi-bright paper, alcohol markers will bleed through
~ designs are of flowers, leaves, star and geometric shapes, a few hearts here and there
~ personal use copying allowed by publisher; suggest copying onto 60 lb. cover stock paper for alcohol marker users to reduce the amount of ink used
~ mandalas fill the page and are not boxed in like Hutchinson's mandala books #1, #2 and #3
~ each page is numbered in very small print at the bottom
~ good clear printing with no missing links or lines
~ designs have a hand drawn look
~ five colored pictures are provided to inspire our own creative juices
~ some designs repeat within the same mandala - good for shading techniques
Wish List:
~ wish the pages were perforated and not printed so close to the book binding
~ wish the drawing lines were not so thick
Lucky us, the creative possibilities of color and medium choices is endless. I find working with mandalas to be very meditative, relaxing and satisfying as the colors pop and the design begins to emerge according to my color choices and placement. I usually use Copic markers, various gel pens and sometimes Blick colored pencils for shading.

Unframed mandalas, hours of enjoyment

I own a couple of Alberta Hutchinson's mandala coloring books, and was excited to try these unframed illustrations. What a wonderful book for colorists! I've been addicted since it's arrival, and very much prefer these in comparison to the framed mandalas. Hours of relaxing creativity to be had here. Nice big mandalas, easy on the eyes, and fun to color using a variety of pens and markers.
The only complaints I have (and their minor ones), the designs are not printed on perforated paper. Certainly not a deal breaker, but for some reason I found these a little tougher to tear out. Also, some of the mandalas were quite similar. I always recommend using a blank sheet of paper underneath, as there will be bleeding. Especially when using alchohol based markers.
Overall this was a lovely book, and I'm happy to have it in my collection.
