Michael Dante DiMartino is an American animation director best known as the co-creator, executive producer, and story editor of the animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, both on Nickelodeon. He was born in Shelburne, Vermont.He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design with Bryan Konietzko, with whom he created Avatar. Before Avatar, Mike worked for twelve years at Film Roman, helping to direct King of the Hill, Family Guy, and Mission Hill in addition to his own animated short, Michael Dante DiMartino is an American animation director best known as the co-creator, executive producer, and story editor of the animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, both on Nickelodeon. Fantastic artbook for the fans

[[VIDEOID:453b894f9013a2b4f0e65d7cd2111c56]]Once again, I'm blown away (no pun intended) by the production value of not just the animation but also the art and direction. All the Avatar companion artbooks have been fabulous, from the original series with Aang, to Book 1 and Book 2 of Korra.

The presentation of this artbook is similar to the earlier two books with the artworks still arranged in chronological order.

The book's filled with lots of character designs, just like the animation is populated with people. There are the main characters, the villains especially and the plenty of town people. Occasionally there are the Studio Ghibli inspired spirits and other creature designs.

There are quite a few storyboard sequences included. Some are the comedic scenes while most of them are action fight scenes. You may have seen some animated line art sequence of Korra online, well, one of them is in the book showing Korra doing a whirlwind kick. The art is amazing in simplicity and clarity. I just love the anime style art.

Also included are the many beautiful environment paintings and layout sketches.

The Avatar world is rich in detail and stories and once again the creators Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino and director Joaquim Dos Santos have provided insightful commentary that delve more into the characters and interesting story arcs.

This is a fantastic artbook. Highly recommended to fans who can't get enough of the animation.

Wow, this book really shows all the paintings, storyboards, sketches, and ideas that went into creating this wonderful season. I have to say that book three of Korra was my favorite, between the horribly terrific villains, the new found air benders, a few very dramatic sad scenes, and also scenes that make you tear up with joy.... this book does all of it justice. It also ties in a few connection with Avatar, such as a few specific spots in Ba Sing Se that Iroh stayed in during his refugee days now being the home to Bolin and Mako's grandmother. You get to see who Ryu is designed after.... there is just soo much in this book. I cannot wait for the next one!!

Amazing book! This book as with the other like it are all just art books. They have amazing illustrations and panels of the way they animated the series. There is also a lot of developer notes and little thing I found cool. The book is a nice buy and it's maid to last. I will enjoy looking at it in the years to come.

About the Author
Rich West is Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Emerson College in Boston. At Emerson, he served as the Department Chair for several years, as the Acting Director of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies, and as the Project Director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. He is past President of the Eastern Communication Association, where he received the Past Officer's Award and was recognized as a "Distinguished Research Fellow" in the Association. Rich is also the former Director of NCA's Educational Policies Board. Both Illinois State University (B.A./M.A.) and Ohio University (Ph.D.) have recognized him as an Outstanding Alum in Communication Studies. He has written extensively in the area of classroom communication and has been recognized as a "Leading Scholar" in Classroom Communication by the Communication Institute for Online Scholarship. Together, Rich and Lynn have co-authored 5 books in multiple editions. They are also co-editors of both the Handbook of Family Communication and The Family Communication Sourcebook, which won the National Communication Association's Outstanding Book Award from the Family Communication Division. In addition, Rich and Lynn are the recipients of the Bernard J. Brommel Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Service in Family Communication. They have also both served as President of the National Communication Association.

Lynn H. Turner is Professor in Communication Studies at Marquette University, and former chair of the department. Lynn received her B.A from University of Illinois, her M.A. from University of Iowa and her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. At Marquette she currently teaches interpersonal communication at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, among other courses. Additionally, she directs Marquette's interdisciplinary family studies minor. Her research areas of emphasis include interpersonal, gender, and family communication. She is the co-author or co-editor of over 10 books as well as many articles and book chapters. Her articles have appeared in several journals including: Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Women and Language, and Western Journal of Communication. Her books include: From the Margins to the Center: Contemporary Women and Political Communication (co-authored with Patricia Sullivan; Praeger, 1996; recipient of the 1997 Best Book Award from the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender), Gender in Applied Communication Contexts (co-edited with Patrice Buzzanell and Helen Sterk), She has been honored by the OSCLG as one of the outstanding women in communication.

He has taught the art history survey course for more than three decades, first at the University of Virginia and, since 1978, at Boston University, where he is currently professor of art history and archaeology. From 1985 to 1998, he was editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Archaeology. Long acclaimed for his inspiring lectures and dedication to students, Professor Kleiner won Boston University's Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching, as well as the College Prize for Undergraduate Advising in the Humanities in 2002, and he is a two-time winner of the Distinguished Teaching Prize in the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program. In 2007, he was elected fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and, in 2009, in recognition of lifetime achievement in publication and teaching, fellow of the Text and Academic Authors Association.

It's a good collection. Considering good classic rock bass tab books are hard to come by. I wish the publishers had added five more hit songs to make a perfect collection. Hey, life is not perfect. I'm overall pleased.

About the Author
Tom McConnell is a native of northern Indiana, and at the time of this publication, he is a science teacher educator at Ball State University. Tom has been playing the dulcimer since 1994. Almost right away, Tom started “noodling” around and finding new melodies. Tom also plays guitar and ukulele. He has written over 50 original songs, including some recorded for his first CD, "Playing from the Heart," which was released in 2001. Not long after, Tom returned to graduate school. He continued playing, though music took a back seat to school and work. After graduating and eventually ending in his current post, he began attending jams and clinics at Folkcraft Instruments, in Woodburn, Indiana. Tom now plays monthly with two clubs, Black Swamp Jam and TRU Ukes. He’s also offering lessons for dulcimer and ukulele, and is recording a new album of original songs. Rock solid picking tutorial!!
If your looking to develop your technique, or a first time picker , this book is a real gem
It has been carefully laid out , in a way which is easy to get your head around ...
If you follow it carefully (and do your practice) this book will work magic on your picking.
There is also some great stuff in here to inspire and take you off on your own direction, including a section on percussive technique which , I have not seen written about anywhere else, and has become a favourite sound of mine!
I have worked with Manny tutorials over the years, and this is informative and to the point ( cutting out the waffle) If you want improve, this book will do it!

This is what we've waited for!

This is the book weve been waiting for! Over the years I've bought so many Banjo Tutorials- many were good, some bad, but all up till John Dowlings book left me with various questions, from hand position & technique through to how & why to use melodic style etc. Firstly, John Dowlings book is beautifully presented, with lots of very clear pics for demonstration. The songs in the book are great choices, and all form a good solid basis for any 5 string players repertoire.
It does say contemporary on the cover, and this is backed up by overviews of many interesting & very current banjo techniques- even very technical playing ideas like false harmonics are explained clearly & comprehensively.
I found the book an inspiration & a breath of fresh air after years of other books which, while good, didnt fire my motivation to practice & learn newe things quite the way this book does.
Its impossible to cover absolutely everything in a tutorial book, and frankly, who would want that? This book concentrates on essential skills and techniques, introduces new ideas, and leaves you eager to broaden your horizons with the instrument. I actually think having spent a few weeks with this book, that it has the potential to become a new "standard" in tutorial books, and belongs on the shelf right next to "Masters of the Fiver String Banjo" by Trishka & Wernick. Look no further, youve founf the definitive "teach yourself Banjo" book right here!

Excellent book. As a beginner, I found all of the theory elements really helpful…especially with understanding chords and inversions. CD is a bonus too. Clear and easy to follow, great tunes. Would recommend :)

Great acting book for teens with themes relevant to their lives. The book includes both monologues, which can be used for interviews with prospective talent agents, and acting scenes. I especially enjoyed the,"notes from the coach" section and the quotes from famous people. Incorporated in 1875, Berkeley Township was settled along the Barnegat Bay shoreline, dotted with homesteads and fishermens shanties. The Central Railroad first brought summer tourists to the area for recreation in the late 19th century, and in the years to follow, many new attractions were established, including B.W. Sangors lavish Royal Pines Hotel. Edward Crabbe established the village of Double Trouble in 1903 for lumber and cranberry production, and Suttons Pavilion became Bayvilles first fishing camp in 1905. Also in this era, George C. Crossly mined clay for terra-cotta products, using a narrow-gauge spur of the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1928, Rudy Korman opened his restaurant and picnic grove, soon known as Kormans Corner. By the 1930s, Clover Cream Top Dairy was the largest in Bayville. In 1932, Dino the Dinosaur was built for a Sinclair Service Station and became a landmark. Historic Route 9 was used heavily through the middle of the 20th century, featuring roadside stands and tourist cabins. Berkeley Township showcases these landmarks and the rich recreational and commercial history of this Ocean County community.

About the Author
Alfred T. Stokley grew up in Bayville, spending his early summers on Barnegat Bay working on his fathers shrimp boat. He is past president of the Berkeley Township Historic Society, a former trustee of the Ocean County Historical Society, and an instructor on Jersey Shore Railroads.

This book was a trip down memory lane. Grew up in the area (ocean gate) during the 50's & 60's. Worked at Laddies. Dad got the newspaper at
Krauses store. Good book. Thanks, Mr. Stokley.
