Educational, Entertaining, and Coloring too, this is a wonderful coloring book that will inspire you.

Educational, Entertaining, and Coloring too, this is a wonderful coloring book. You will find artistically rendered anatomically correct poisonous plants, imaginatively combined with other images depicting their mythology, history, and/or uses. For instance white Snakeroot is depicted with a snake. Each image will inspire your creativity and your imagination.
This is a wonderful book to teach children about the poisonous plants in our gardens, fields and around the world. I really like that this book is perforated, so that it is easy to remove each page and the information about the plant is located on the back of the same page.
1. 30 Illustrations printed one per page, on the back of each illustration Is a paragraph including the plants name, poisonous traits, and a bit of history and/or mythology about the plant in that illustration.
2. This book is well made, at 9” x 12” it is a bit larger than most other coloring books, each page is perforated for easy removal and it is printed on light weight bright white paper with crisp perfect printing.
3. The cover picture is not included in the book, but the art style is representative of the illustrations.
4. Unique coloring book....Color & Learn about Giant Hogweed, Deadly Nightshade, Angel's Trumpet & more!

I've been enjoying coloring for quite a few years now & have several coloring books.
None of them are like 'The Forbidden Garden: Coloring for the Curious." It is unique.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I was asked if I'd like to review it.
I checked out the product page & learned that this coloring book is different from all my other coloring books.
"The Forbidden Garden: Coloring for the Curious" features hand-drawn, pen & ink illustrations of plants that have dark pasts! That's right, you read that correctly. This coloring book features plants that have menacing pasts, for example: some have been used to make potions, one is known in the USA as a federal noxious weed & should be reported so experts can remove it, another was commonly planted at grave sites. Just brushing up against the stinging tree causes excruciating pain which can last for months.
You might wonder how I know the fun & interesting facts about these plants. Well, even if you don't wonder, I'm going to tell you anyway. Samantha Cole, author & illustrator of "The Forbidden Garden," has designed this coloring book with a creative & imaginative illustration on one side of the page & on the back of that page she includes "a wickedly enchanting description."
I am a curious person & love to learn facts like these. I really like the coloring book she has designed. What's even better, this is her first coloring book in the series, "Coloring for the Curious." I can't wait to see what will be next.
I'm using a combination of Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, Prismacolor Verithin, Crayola Twistables, and Stabilo 88 fineliner pens. There are some teeny, tiny spaces to color in; the Verithin, Twistables & Stabilo 88 pens work great in those areas.
Samantha harvested a "handful of ominous greens just for this book."

Unusual and Interestingly Elegant Coloring Book of Poisonous Plants – designs printed on one side of non-perforated paper

[[VIDEOID:e6623b069516ba599f1254bf2fcd08b8]]This is an interesting and pretty book of 30 hand-drawn renditions of various poisonous plants. There are a few other designs that can be colored on the title pages and back page of the book. I am a gardener and I found the book an interesting reminder of what not to plant in my garden as I have both children and pets who might get into something. While the list is something I would use as a health reminder, the artist's interpretation of these plants, while lovely, is not a substitute for an actual photograph of poisonous plants for identification purposes.
For coloring purposes, these are simply elegant designs. I like that the artist has included (on the back side of each design), some information about it, including: Accepted English name, Latin name, various common names, and most interesting the effects of and the history of the plant.
The book designs are printed on one side of the soft white medium grade paper while the back has the identifying information. The book is bound by two staples, so removing the pages from the cover should be quite simply if you choose to do so.
All of my markers and gel pens bled through to the back of the page. My coloring pencils went on the paper well. While the information about the plant is interesting, I will certainly sacrifice it by putting a page of chipboard or heavy weight paper below the page I am working on and letting the ink do what it will to the backside of the paper while protecting the rest of the book.
