A Must-Read For Millenials

Prior Unity is the smaller, condensed sister companion to the fuller social wisdom given in the book Not-Two Is Peace by World Friend Adi Da, finished on the day he passed in 2008. Prior Unity is easy to read and in its succinct 120 pages gives the reader an overview of how humans can re-establish the apriori space of prior connectedness. This short book points to what inherent egolessness and prior unity are all about and is a must read for anyone, especially Millenials who are being the shift by their daily actions.

Prior Unity reveals itself in this remarkable book, which I highly recommend. The observation by The World Friend, Adi Da, that prior unity must first be realized before we can realize happiness and peace is striking. What is even more striking is Adi Da's revelation that:
"The world is a prior unity. It is not that there is a unity yet to be established, which you must seek for and work on. Unity is so."
During my reading of his delightful book, I found myself strongly attracted to not only the concepts found in the book, but also to Adi Da himself. Prior Unity has much wisdom, both practical and profound. At its core and in its full circumference, it points to the reality that the human search, both personal and collective, to find lasing happiness and peace, has always been unsuccessful and continues to fail. Adi Da observes that we continue to fail to realize happiness because of something we are doing.
What if the world and our experience of it is not what it appears to be? Most of us rely on our own limited individual point of view. We see ourselves as a separate being distinct from our environment, the world. We think and feel that we are separate from each other and separate from our conception of a higher power, be that spirit, God, philosophy, science, nature or beauty.
Adi Da suggests that prior to all that, at the root source of all being and consciousness, there is a prior unity to be realized. That prior unity is the source of happiness and peace. In fact Adi Da says:
"All manifestation is arising from a prior and intrinsically indivisible Unity."
Adi Da contends that each of us, as a mortal being has, "the urge to find what is greater and to be included in that." How then do we each enable the enactment of this prior unity that is happiness and peace?
Adi Da proposes that a fundamental change must occur. Each of us, while seeking individual happiness and collective peace, have been struggling forward seeking the achievement of this and that; always hoping, sometimes enthusiastically and sometimes in despair, to succeed in these illusive goals. Ultimately we become disillusioned. If we react negatively to this dis-illusionment, we become embittered and clenched with stress upon ourselves. However, if we react positively upon understanding this dis-illusionment, we may be relaxed and open to the key to prior unity. Instead of constantly seeking, if we stop doing that, and turn our attention to the existing reality of prior unity, we become open to receive the graceful gift of happiness and peace that already exists as prior unity. Beyond this root core of realization, Adi Da then beautifully and fully explains how, once realized, prior unity, then enabled, may be enacted in the world.

Prior Unity changed my life.

This little book is a transformation of mind and thought. I can't express how powerful it is.
In it, I learned the foundation concepts of what needs to happen on an individual level to deal with the world's major problems, especially in opening the way for world peace. After reading it, I went to the more thorough and detailed book, Not Two Is Peace, which takes it even farther. But this one is definitely better to read first, it's an awesome foundation and introduction, and then take it from there.
Part One.
In section I, "The World-Friend, Adi Da" explains in detail the principle of Prior Unity. We are all already and always united as one, so we need to realize and live by that principle in our lives.
In section II, "The History of Dis-Unity", he talks about the root cause of division between peoples from a historical perspective, the root cause of wars and tribal conflict, and how to get out of all of it.
Part Two
Section III, he teaches about "Cooperative Community." This is my favorite part of the book, as I would like to take those principles and apply them in my own circles of community. It is powerful! It speaks directly to my heart, and I feel this urge, as I read it, to participate deeply and fully with others in community, playing music together, talking about god together, helping each other, and having deep intimate vulnerable friendships with each other. It's really really amazing.
In section IV, he talks about corporations, all of us as a global people, responsibility, and the survival of civilization.
Finally, in section V, he introduces the concept of the Global Cooperative Forum, which is the movement that needs to happen for us to avoid the destruction of civilization, and to have world peace. From there, I transitioned to Not Two Is Peace, where he talks about this forum in great detail. But again, I would highly recommend reading Prior Unity first.
I hope you read this book. It is deep, profound, mind changing and world changing.
